]]> Perhaps best known as the birthplace of Henry V, Monmouth boasts a whole host of historical sites, people and buildings from the Nelson Garden to The Town Hall. It has a medieval 13th-century bridge over the river Monnow, unique in Britain as it is the only preserved bridge of its design remaining.

There are various walks in the area including the Kymin, a hill overlooking Monmouth with neo-classical monuments at the summit, built between 1794 and 1800.

]]> Around Symonds Yat Rock there are marked trails to guide you around the forest and along the River Wye.

In the nearby cliffs are nesting places for Peregrine Falcons – the best time to see the birds is while they hunt and raise their young from April to August.

The cliff top at Symonds Yat Rock provided a good vantage point for its Iron age inhabitants, who built a fort here 2,500 years ago. The site is now a scheduled ancient monument. Ongoing tree and vegetation management is designed to minimise damage to the old hillfort defences.
